DR. DENNY’S APPROACH
All of us feel overwhelmed at times and need some help dealing with our situations. The National Institute of Mental Health report that more than 30 million Americans need help dealing with problems and feelings that seem beyond their control. These problems may be stress or constant anxiety, feelings of sadness due to a loss of a relationship, a death or an illness. Difficulty dealing with a child, spouse, friend or boss. Or just the stress of everyday living. Studies show that most people show significant improvement after just a few sessions of counseling.
My style is interactive and I engage you in the process of problem-solving from the very first session. I will explore what you identify as your problems, what you have tried in the past, what worked and what didn’t work. I will work with you to set some specific and realistic goals and guide you through the process of developing effective solutions.
Each session will focus on giving you tools and techniques and practice using them so you can use them outside of session. I prepare you for dealing with old triggers and maintaining your new changes.
SESSIONS ARE FLEXIBLE
The sessions may be individual, couple or family meetings depending on what is needed. At times one partner is not willing to participate to deal with a relationship issue. Using a systems approach I can work with one partner to help them make changes that will affect the entire system. Often after a few sessions the reluctant partner is willing to be involved.
I also see children from eight years old and up who may be having difficulty dealing with their parents’ divorce.
My office hours include early morning, afternoon, evening and week-end appointment to accommodate your schedule.
